Green Horizons 'Kidz' Club

Green Horizons 'Kidz' Club

Welcome! Our objective is to create a network of students, educators and researchers, with the goal of raising awareness to the escalating climatic changes  and depletion of natural resources.

How?

By promoting activities in schools, scout troops, clubs and other educational institutions or even websites and magazines. We can develop custom datasets, and educational materials, create technology transfer programs and training events.

Educators, in schools with programs affiliated to the ‘Kidz’ Club, can request custom made datasets to use in classes or activities, compatible with 3-D geographic systems, such as NASA’s WorldWind or Google Earthtm, or simple posters, fact-sheets and more.

To access the ‘Kidz’ Club, all it takes is to sign up an existing or new environment-awareness program and contribute to the planting of trees, with the carbon offset program of Green Horizons.

The Club can help you to raise awareness and funds to contribute to the reforestation projects we maintain. Fund-drives, events or contributions by the community are just some examples of ways you can find to sponsor your program and also to contribute to the planting of trees, thus helping to offset carbon dioxide emissions and protect endangered species and habitats.

Remember that Green Horizons only engages in reforestation programs using trees native to the area where they are planted.
The amount of custom-made datasets that can be requested is dependent on the number of trees planted. Each Club member has a ‘Carbon Offset Scorecard’.   The higher the value, the bigger the benefits within the Club!

What we offer

    1.    Custom datasets, by request of club members, and access to         other resources developed by Green Horizons;

2. Assistance in the development of environment protection/education clubs and projects;
3.    Custom webpage, with information regarding your project;
4.    Advertisement of your initiatives at the Club official website;
5.    Access to technology transfer and training events.

How many datasets

Green Horizons ‘Kidz’ Club is managed by researchers with qualifications and experience in fields including environment, health, design and programming. The resources we develop are subject to a careful evaluation prior to release.

The number of resources you can request, for use in your activities, depend on your ‘Carbon Offset Scorecard’.

You start with, as low as 1 carbon unit (required to join the club), and with that you can only request  1 custom resource per 40 days. As you increase your score, new features are added to your account. Check the table to see the benefits of helping the environment.

*Units for a period of one year, since joining the Club. For instance a unit acquired December 01, 2008 will be valid until December 01, 2009, for Green Horizons ‘Kidz’ Club benefits purposes.
** Includes special training events specific for a given project.

Green Horizons reserves to the right of suspending the service without prior notification of Club members. Green Horizons Conservation Group offers the Club as an additional benefit to its clients, but it does not consist in a service provided to them. The only item sold are the carbon offset units.

Who qualifies: Any client of Green Horizons Conservation Group. The ‘Kidz’ Club is especially developed for Schools, home-schooled children, Scout Troops, educational institutions of all kinds, grade levels 1 to 12, educational websites and parents.
